The Warsaw Pact comes to an end in March 31, 1991 after being around for 36 years. Things were beginning to happen in the 1980’s, with the anti-Soviet’s and anticommunists. They were working towards breaking this pact. Certain countries were already beginning to withdraw from the pact, such as Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia. With all of this happening, the economic status was declining and the political situation was unstable, that if left no choice for the Soviet Union to end the Warsaw Pact completely.
