The Red Scare

The Red Scare was the American fear of the spread of communism inside the United States. Innocent people’s reputations were ruined and certain individuals were black-listed. There was a communist party presence in the United States, to be sure, but the threat was greatly exaggerated. The panic was largely started by Senator Joseph McCarthy.
